Lisa Gatt, the Maltese girl severely injured in a traffic accident in Cambodia on April 7 will be returning to Malta tomorrow.

She will be assisted by a Malta Red Cross team that travelled to Cambodia and has been facilitating her treatment and transport.

Ms Gatt broke a thigh bone and suffered other injuries in the traffic accident, which occurred while she was riding pillion on a motorcycle. She was operated on in a small Cambodian clinic while her family launched a campaign for help.

Her journey home started with a long drive to Thailand on April 21, where she was given a full medical examination at a border hospital. The Red Cross had reported that at a physiotherapy session she even managed to walk three paces using walking aids.

She was later taken to Bangkok for the flight home.
