The Malta Standards Authority has banned the sale of a Universal Travel Adaptor (picture) which has been found to be unsafe.

It said the adapter poses a risk of electric shock because while it is connected to the mains supply, another part of the product also becomes ‘live’ and can be touched.

The Authority ordered all importers and/or retail outlets to withdraw this product from the market with immediate effect. It also advised consumers to return such products.
