Andrè Schembri will play in Germany next season after Eintracht Braunschweig reached an agreement with Malta champions Marsaxlokk to sign the young striker on loan for one year.

The 21-year-old Schembri, a prominent figure in Marsaxlokk's march to their first Premier League title last season, is expected to fly out to Germany on June 18, two days before Eintracht Braunschweig kick off their pre-season training.

Eintracht Braunschweig were one of three teams who suffered relegation from Germany's second division league at the end of last season.

"I will join Eintracht on loan for one year but they have an option to make my move permanent at the end of next season," Schembri, who played in Malta's last two Euro 2008 Group C qualifiers, away to Norway (0-4) and Bosnia (0-1), told The Times.

"This move represents the realisation of a lifetime dream.

"This would not have been possible without the support of Victor Sciriha.

"Credit also to Marsaxlokk who didn't make it difficult for me to fulfil my ambition of playing abroad.

"I would also like to thank my coaches in the past season, Brian Talbot (Marsaxlokk) and national coach Dusan Fitzel because they have helped me a lot," the former Hibernians forward added.
