I have often wondered why drivers in Malta are so careless about pedestrians.

I have noticed a frequent posting in the newspapers about people getting seriously injured by automobiles, about two or three a week. For a small island that’s a lot of people. Why are drivers so thoughtless when it comes to pedestrians? I’m only 12 and I’ve nearly been hit several times and they add insult to injury by yelling at me.

How many people need to be critically injured before drivers realise that they need to slow down?
