Those who are happily married – and good luck to them – do not want or need divorce. Of course, no one can force them to have a divorce. But many of them want to dictate what less fortunate couples should do, even though their marriage may be a living hell and they may be suffering insults, beatings, cheating and so on. Essentially, they want to deprive them of the chance to start a new marital relationship with someone whom they truly love and to get a second chance at raising a family.

Is it egoism, jealousy, hatred that lies behind this? Some even do it in the name of the Christian religion.

Shame on them. In my opinion they are committing a grave sin. Holding someone against his will, even for a few minutes, is a crime under our civil laws. And we boast of being a democracy.

I can’t stand tobacco and alcohol. Both can lead to death and a lot of suffering for the family. All we can do, however, is teach and explain the perils of smoking and drinking. But then we must let everyone be free to make their own decision.
