Spanish police have fined a woman who climbed down from a station platform and crossed railway lines hours after 13 people were killed and at least 14 injured by an express train at the same spot, officials said today.
Television footage showed an auburn-haired woman clambering down, crossing two sets of tracks, and climbing up on to the opposite platform before being stopped by security guards who called police at the beach resort of Castelldefels, south of Barcelona.
A regional government spokeswoman said an unnamed Russian woman had been given a penalty.
The Catalan government said in a statement that so far nine of those killed have been identified. Five were Ecuadorean, two were Bolivian and two were Colombian nationals, the government said.
