Germany will be without striker Cacau when they face England in the last 16 of the World Cup in Bloemfontein tomorrow.

The Stuttgart forward suffered an abdominal muscle strain during training yesterday.

The 29-year-old played a part in all three of Germany's group games.

"This injury means that he cannot play against England," manager Oliver Bierhoff told www.dfb.de.

"We are working to ensure he will be fit for the next game, we are confident he will be."

Injury doubts Bastian Schweinsteiger and Jerome Boateng are set to undergo fitness tests today and Bierhoff is hopeful they will be fit to face Fabio Capello's side.

"We will see if their injuries have recovered enough for them to take a full part in training with the rest of the team," he said.
