Prime Minister Joseph Muscat today made multiple appeals for Gozitans to vote for every single one of Labour’s candidates.

Addressing a mass meeting in Xagħra, Dr Muscat said the vote in Gozo was crucial.

He said people had a duty to vote for all of Labour candidates.

“Do not leave anyone out. Send a clear message,” Dr Muscat said.

The prime minister said people should not take any notice of the numbers. He said the most important survey was the one next Saturday when Malta goes to the polls.

Dr Muscat said his government had treated Gozo and Malta equally, rather than just offering Gozo leftovers.

Although people had already felt the positive effects of a PL government in Gozo, Dr Muscat promised the best was yet to come.

He said the best parts of PL’s plans for Gozo were well within reach. These could be obtained if everyone went out and voted for all PL candidates, Dr Muscat again emphasised.

Dr Muscat said the only proposal for Gozo that Opposition leader Simon Busuttil spoke about was not honouring the Gozo General Hospital contract.

He said the hospital would completely change healthcare in Gozo. Instead of Gozitans going to Malta for treatment, Maltese and foreigners would travel to Gozo, he said.

Dr Muscat said 12 companies had bid on a tender to offer a fast-ferry service, which would offer 45-minute long journeys between Mġarr and Valletta.

On the proposed tunnel connecting Malta and Gozo, Dr Muscat said people had a clear choice between those who had delivered, and others who took 15 years to build a new terminal in Ċirkewwa.

Dr Muscat said unemployment had been slashed in Gozo, and job creation was seven-times higher than it was under a PN government.

He said Labour was offering tax-breaks to companies moving to Gozo, as well as benefits to companies which allowed teleworking for Gozitans.

Parents whose children were renting property in Malta in order to study at university would be given a €5,000 tax credit, Dr Muscat said.

Dr Muscat hit out at the “irresponsible scaremongering” being carried out by Dr Busuttil over claims that companies in the iGaming sector were considering leaving Malta.

He said companies were actually relocating to Malta, as evidenced by an application by Sky Bet to move its offices here.

Dr Muscat also pledged the government would continue to fight to open up the trapping season.

If the European Court decided against this, the government would find “other ways” for trappers to be able to practice their hobby, Dr Muscat said.
