The Msida council today renewed its appeal for pelican lights to be put up near the Skate Park in Msida.

Mayor Clifton Grima said that in October 2011 he wrote to Transport Malta and ministers Austin Gatt and Chris Said informing them that the council had received a petition from residents and students demanding a pelican lights system as the area was a black spot for accidents.

Transport Malta had replied saying that the people could use the subway.

But this, the mayor said, was quite a long way away, sewage seeped into it occasionally and it flooded when it rained. It was also pitch black at night.
