A measure announced in the budget to cuts the registration tax of new vehicles – those technically known as Euro V – by some 30 per cent is being implemented through a change in regulations, the government said.

The measures is aimed at incentivising the purchase of new and more environment-friendly cars.

The association of car importers said a few days ago that it was concerned because a reduction in the registration tax on Euro Five vehicles could not be implemented since the Budget was not approved by Parliament.

The government said today it would implement the measure on which there was agreement between the two political parties.
