Carol Debono and Bernardette Micallef, president and treasurer respectively of the Association for School Councils (AKS) recently attended the second meeting of Patch-World, a European project aimed at bringing together children and parents through ICT, which was held in Karvia, Finland. Other participants in the project come from Italy, Turkey, Germany, Poland, Netherlands, Romania, Bulgaria and Finland.

During the meeting there was a detailed discussion on internet safety and parent-child interaction, and the results of interviews held earlier with various families throughout the nine participating countries were presented and analysed. The partners also agreed on their roles for the next steps of the project.

A visit to a local primary Kantti school gave the participants an insight on the diverse method of teaching adopted by this school, wherein the children are given ample opportunities to express their creativity and reach goals in a 'casual' environment that made learning fun.

The next meeting which is being held in Poland on January 16 will be followed by a fourth meeting in Malta in May 2009.
