In Turkey: Fenerbahce clinched the Turkish league title for the 17th time yesterday, drawing 2-2 at home to Trabzonspor while their Istanbul rivals Besiktas lost 3-0 at Bursaspor. The victory left Fenerbahce on 64 points, six clear of Besiktas with two games remaining. Fenerbahce have the better head-to-head record between the two teams this season so even if Besiktas were to win their last two games and Fenerbache lose theirs, Fenerbahce would still be champions under the Turkish league rules.

In Belgium: Anderlecht secured their 29th Belgian title on Saturday night with a 6-0 drubbing of neighbours FC Brussels while second-placed Racing Genk lost 2-0 to Charleroi. The two results mean Anderlecht (77 points) hold a five-point lead with one match left.

Pandiani: Uruguayan striker Walter Pandiani became only the fifth visiting player to score a league hat-trick against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. On Saturday, he rattled up three goals in the space of 19 first-half minutes. Real still won the match 4-3.

Nakamura: Celtic's Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura completed an honours double yesterday when he collected the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year award at the association's 50th annual dinner. Last month, he was voted players' Player of the Year following an outstanding season for the champions. Nakamura remained unfazed by any language barrier, saying: "Playing is more important than the language and if you can play on the pitch you can learn the shouts."

In Scotland: Rangers surrendered a 13-match unbeaten run in the Scottish Premier League since Walter Smith became manager in January with a second-half strike from Steven Naismith giving visitors Kilmarnock a 1-0 win yesterday. Naismith cracked home the winner on 53 minutes following a fine run and low cross from the right by Grant Murray.

In Holland: Klaas Jan Huntelaar struck twice to inspire Ajax to a 4-1 aggregate win over his former club Heerenveen in the play-offs for a Champions League qualifying round place yesterday. Ajax will face AZ Alkmaar, who eliminated Twente Enschede with a 2-0 home win, in a two-leg final for a place in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. Feyenoord were eliminated from the play-offs for a UEFA Cup place after a 1-1 home draw against Groningen to miss European football for the first time since 1990.
