Arriva said this morning that bus fares will remain unchanged, despite the fuel prices rise, and it is now more economical than ever before to use a bus instead of a car.

"A person commuting for work from Luqa to Valletta and back travels a distance of some 16.6kms. If they have a small petrol engine consuming an average 1 litre for every 10kms (and without considering the endless driving in circles until they find a parking spot and the depreciation of the car) this journey will cost some €2.51. If you’re travelling from Mosta to Valletta and back, your fuel expense goes up to some €3.60. Arriva’s passengers travel all over the island for only €1.50 a day," the company said.

“We absorbed the increases in fuel prices last February and will do so again this time. In this way we offer more value for money to all our clients," the company added.
