Pembroke primary school, part of the St Claire College, is the only school so far to be generating all its energy from photovoltaic cells, Education Minister Dolores Cristina told Opposition Whip Joe Mizzi in reply to a parliamentary question.

Three other schools are far behind percentage-wise. Cos-picua boys’ secondary school, part of St Margaret College, generates six per cent; Kirkop boys’ secondary school, part of St Benedict College, eight per cent; and Qormi boys’ secondary, part of St Ignatius College, 9.8 per cent. Mrs Cristina pointed out that schools are also equipped with solar water heating systems. PV cells are currently being installed at the new boys’ secondary school at Mosta (Ta’ Żokrija) and at the new boys’ secondary school at Victoria.
