Between 2004 and 2010, revenue from Value Added Tax rose from Lm123.9 million, or €288.63 million, to €482.5 million last year – an increase of €193.9 million.

Finance Minister Tonio Fenech said this in reply to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.

He added that between 2004 and 2010 there had been an increase of €123.8 million in expenditure on health and an increase of €5.8 million in capital expenditure, besides the investment of €64.7 million on the construction of Mater Dei Hospital. This had brought the total hike in expenditure on health to €194.4 million.
