Renzo Spiteri, one of Malta’s foremost musicians, is presenting a series of contemporary world music performances in Britain this month and in June.

Entitled Silence Sounds and Spaces, these solo performances were recorded within the chambers of some of most prominent archaeological sites across the Maltese Islands, exploiting their unique natural sonic timbre.

The album was launched last November at St James Cavalier and has received a five-out-of-five star review rating by Canada-based music journalist Matthew Forss.

Mr Forss described the album as “a chilling, mysterious, and forward-thinking musical journey that deserves to be a top spot on the world music/new age charts”.

Throughout his multi-faceted and multi-instrumental live performances, Mr Spiteri employs particular non-conventional instruments − including terracotta pots, stones and traditional clay drums – to create the extraordinary world of sounds for which he is well renowned.

“This project is very close to my heart and I feel very privileged to promote our country’s unique and stunning archaeological heritage alongside my contemporary music,” said Mr Spiteri.

“Through the use of live visuals by Winston De Giorgio (Live Grafix), and powerful images of the Neolithic sites by photographer Daniel Cilia, I have re-adapted the visual aspect of the performance to better suit a foreign audience, thereby exposing it to a fresh audiovisual ‘postcard’ of Malta.”

Mr Spiteri’s artistic versatility and passion for the creative use of sound have over the years allowed him to develop fresh musical possibilities and unlimited modes of expression.

Mr Spiteri is an endorsed artiste for Toca Percussion, Paiste Cymbals, Yamaha Drums and Schlagwerk Percussion. Silence Sounds and Spaces is managed by Musiconnect Ltd. For more information visit www.renzospiteri.com
