Twelve BOV Premier League players were suspended by the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday after the latest round of top-flight games.

Tarxien Rainbows forward Ricardo Costa was the worst hit as the Brazilian received a two-match ban after being sent off for retaliation during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Mosta.

Orosco Anonam, also of Tarxien Rainbows, was given a one-match ban for four bookings and will miss Saturday’s derby against Hibs at the National Stadium.

Mosta striker Gilbert Martin, sent off for two bookings in Friday’s clash with Tarxien, was among the other players who were suspended for one match.

Birkirkara will be without Gareth Sciberras and Joseph Zerafa for their match against Marsaxlokk after they were handed a one-match ban for four yellow cards.

Marsaxlokk will be without defender Patrick Borg who was also banned for one game after accumulating four bookings.

Ħamrun Spartans goalkeeper Omar Borg, dismissed for two yellow cards in his side’s 3-0 setback to Qormi, was handed a one-match ban and will miss Friday’s match against Mosta.

Mqabba midfielder Claudio Calleja’s fourth caution in the 2-2 draw with Balzan Youths has ruled him out of Sunday’s clash with leaders Valletta.

Qormi duo Joseph Farrugia and Jonathan Bondin will play no part in Saturday’s match against Floriana and Sliema Wanderers will also be without two players for Sunday’s game against Balzan Youths after Beppe Muscat and Roderick Bajada were suspended for one game.

Wing-back Muscat was sent off for two bookings in the 1-0 defeat of Birkirkara while Bajada collected his fourth yellow card.
