Belgian Ambassador Jean-François Delahaut recently presented a cheque for €4,413.08 to Jesuit Refugee Service Malta assistant director Kristina Zammit to support JRS Malta’s work among migrants and refugees and its efforts to promote peaceful co-existence and harmonious relations between them and the Maltese.

The money was raised during the First Django World Music Festival in Malta held in Valletta in December 2010 to commemorate the centenary of Belgian musician Django Reinhardt (1910-1953) and the end of the Belgian presidency of the EU Council.

The festival was co-hosted by the Belgian embassy and Malta’s Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment together with the embassies of Austria, Italy, Egypt, Germany, Japan and Turkey.
