Police in Bangkok have recovered a stolen $280,000, but it was not a pleasant task.

The precious stone was swallowed by a woman at a jewellery shop and the officers had to wait for laxatives to do their work. 

 

The woman, accompanied by a man, entered the shop and asked to see some diamonds. They examined one of them, handed it back, and left.  

One of the saleswomen realised that the stone that was handed back was not the real thing. The police were called and managed to track down the couple after seeing CCTV. Hae Ying, 34,  a Chinese woman, eventually admitted swallowing the diamond and an X-ray scan showed up the stone in her large intestine. 

It took three days for nature to take its course...
