Modric: Real Madrid had some positive news on the injury front yesterday when Croatia midfielder Luka Modric returned to training after a three-month absence with a thigh injury. Real have missed the control Modric gives them in central midfield and his reappearance a day after Wednesday’s 2-0 Champions League last 16, first leg win at Bundesliga side Schalke 04 came as the La Liga leaders prepare for Sunday’s trip to Elche. “Modric’s return to the group was the big news of the day during a training session in which the 10 outfield players who started in the victory against Schalke 04 exercised in the indoor facilities,” Real said on their website.

Cavare: Dimitri Cavare looks to have played his final game for Lens after being ruled out for the rest of the season with damaged ligaments in his knee. Coach Antoine Kombouare announced the news in his press conference ahead of the weekend match against Caen. Cavare, a Lens youth product, was sold to Rennes on February 2 but was seeing out the season with Lens on loan.

West Brom: West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace has refused to rule out selling the Baggies to the right buyer. Albion have announced pre-tax profits of £14.7 million for the year ending June 30, 2014 and are looking for fresh investment. Peace said: “I had said that I was open to proposals regarding investment in the club and would not stand in the way of a new owner, providing they convinced me their intentions for the club were in keeping with its traditions and values and their ability to deliver on them was realistic.”

Ings: Sean Dyche trusts that exploring his options for next season will not have any impact on Danny Ings’ brilliant form for Burnley. The 22-year-old reportedly held talks with Real Sociedad boss David Moyes in Spain last weekend as the race for his signature hots up. Dyche, who joked Ings had brought him a donkey back from Spain as a souvenir, said: “It’s just a reality of the business now. That’s what the rules state. He’s respectful of it. I’ve got no reason to doubt his thoughts about Burnley FC and what we’re doing, you can tell that by his performances.”
