It all happened on the same day within the space of an hour and a half. Going to Valletta by bus was a pleasure with a young driver who was considerate with people with pushchairs and the elderly passengers. He waited, as he should, untill the passengers were safely seated.
He is a credit to the company.
On the way back to Naxxar it was exactly the opposite. At one point, a young foreigner approached the driver with some query. In no time, the driver was shouting foul language in English at the passenger and swearing in Maltese. It all ended with a big scream: “Over here, it is I who decide!”
I have travelled to three continents and visited scores of countries. However, never in my life did I come across a driver shouting at passengers!
The transport reform needs a radical improvement in theway that some bus drivers deal with the public.
If this does not happen, tourism will suffer, passengers will suffer and the future company will.
