Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi today discussed trade and investment relations with Latvia during a meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis in Riga.

The two prime ministers also discussed relations in the European Union and Malta's experience of euro adoption.

Dr Gonzi is on the second day of a trip which yesterday saw him have talks with the Prime Minister of Finland in Helsinki.

He said relations between Malta and Latvia were strong, but there was potential for growth in trade, investment and tourism.

Mr Dombrovskis said follow-up meetings would be held to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders also discussed the setting up of the EU Asylum Support Office in Malta and the forthcoming Climate Change conference.

Dr Gonzi is accompanied by Resources Minister George Pullicino.
