The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) clarified this afternoon that there was nothing in the 2006 North Harbour Local Plan (NHLP) that indicated that MEPA earmarked Balluta Square as one of three possible sites for a public car park.

"The only planning measure that the NHLP puts forward for this site at Balluta is that it is to be protected as a public open space," MEPA said.

It said the Local Plan earmarks three strategic car parks within St. Julians: at Pender Place, Triq Anglu Mikiel Borg and within Zone A of the Villa Rosa site.

The NHLP policies and maps for the locality of St.Julians can be viewed by logging on to http://www.mepa.org.mt/nhlp-docs .
