The European Shooting Championships continued yesterday in Cyprus with Frans Pace representing Malta in the trap competition while upcoming Clive Farrugia made his debut in the junior skeet event.

In the seniors' trap, Pace was involved in the opening three rounds of the competition where the participants had to shoot a total of 75 clays. The experienced Pace hit scores of 22/25, 22/25 and 23/25 for an overall tally of 67.

The competition resumes today with the final two rounds of the preliminary phase followed by the final barrage between the top six shooters.

In the skeet competition, Farrugia finished the opening day with a tally of 44 from 50 clays after scores of 23/25 and 21/25. Today, the Maltese youngster will shoot in the final two rounds before the final barrage.

Meanwhile, William Chetcuti returned to Malta yesterday after placing sixth in the double trap competition on Monday. In Cyprus, Chetcuti's coach Jimmy Bugeja was nominated by the European Shooting Confederation as representative of the Double Trap Coaches Association.
