Arsenal are willing to talk to Milan about striker Emmanuel Adebayor, the Italian club's chief executive Adriano Galliani has said.

Milan are seeking a main striker and have made no secret of their interest in Adebayor, who has also been linked in the media with Barcelona.

"Today Arsenal sent us a letter saying they were willing to talk to us about Adebayor," Galliani told Antenna3 television on Tuesday, having previously said the Togo player was too expensive.

"If Adebayor decides to leave, Milan definitely want him but it is clear that if an offer arrives from Barcelona it would be difficult for him to say no," Galliani said.

Crouch agrees terms with Portsmouth

Portsmouth have agreed personal terms with England striker Peter Crouch and he will complete his transfer from Liverpool subject to his passing a medical, the south coast club said yesterday.

The clubs had already agreed an undisclosed fee for the lanky 27-year-old, who spent nine months at Portsmouth in the 2001/02 season.

The club's website yesterday said that Crouch was expected to undergo his medical within the next 48 hours.

Crouch struggled to hold down a regular first-team place at Liverpool last season and wanted to move to enhance his England chances.

Youngster provides own transfer scoop

Reporters did not have to dig very deep to find out that English Premier League club Fulham were keen on luring a talented teenager away from London rivals Crystal Palace.

They had only to click on to the player's own page on the Facebook social networking website to read details of his proposed move.

Ashley Paul Robinson, an 18-year-old who broke into the first team at Championship club Palace last season, gave the traditional transfer story scoop a thoroughly modern dimension when he announced on Saturday that he would be having a trial with Fulham on Monday.

Ronaldinho not a machine, says Henry

Barcelona forward Thierry Henry said Brazilian team-mate Ronaldinho's poor season with the Spanish club is part and parcel of a player's ups and downs.

"Ronnie is not a machine," the Frenchman told reporters during a visit to Chile. "I think that sometimes people forget we are human beings and that sometimes you have a year where you are not at your highest level.

"The problem is that Ronnie has done so many great things that when he doesn't keep up that level, people become disillusioned. But he's an incredible player and I expect he can get back to his best."

France's Trezeguet quits internationals

France striker David Trezeguet said yesterday he was quitting international football.

The Juventus player was left out of France's Euro 2008 squad and had an uneasy relationship with coach Raymond Domenech, who was told last week he could stay in the job.

"The awful Euros and the confirmation of the coach have led me to this irreversible decision," the 30-year-old told reporters at Juve's pre-season training retreat.

"I see soccer differently from how they see it in France. The Euros were very negative but what annoys me more is that Domenech is staying," he said.

Trezeguet was second top scorer in Serie A last season with 20 goals but could not force his way into Domenech's plans.

Barcelona closer to Hleb deal

Barcelona are reportedly expected to complete the signing of Alexander Hleb in the coming days.

Hleb's future at the Emirates Stadium has been uncertain since the end of last season and he has also been linked with a move to Italian champions Inter.

Barcelona have long been interested in the Belarussian and he is understood to be travelling to Spain to undergo a medical after the two clubs reportedly agreed a fee, according to Skysports.com.

The 27-year-old would become Barca's fifth new signing of the summer and their second midfield acquisition after the arrival of Seydou Keita from Sevilla last month.

Messina on brink of bankruptcy

Mid-table Serie B side Messina are close to bankruptcy, which could hand Avellino a reprieve from the third tier.

Reports from Italy claim that Messina are heading for the second financial collapse in the club's history.

The Sicilian club bounced back from the abyss after an overhaul in 1993 and were in Serie A between 2004 and 2007, but relegation has had an adverse effect on their coffers.

There were two possible saviours who were tipped with takeover bids, but they have now both pulled out, leaving the club with weeks to save their place in Serie B.
