The Maltese women's national team made it three wins out of three games in the FIBA European Division C after beating Wales 60-41 in Luxembourg yesterday.

The result ensured Malta finished top of the group with maximum points and will now face Andorra in tomorrow's semi-final.

Against the Welsh team, coaches Santino Coppa and Sandro Farrugia made use of all the players in the squad but they still proved to be superior to their opponents.

The Maltese took control of the match from the start and by the end of the opening session, they were already 16-5 ahead.

In the second session, Wales tried to get back in the reckoning but the Malta maintained a firm grip on the proceedings to go into the interval leading 31-16.

On the restart, Wales showed signs of improvement, winning several turnovers. However, Coppa's girls quickly regained control to ease to a comfortable win.

Josephine Grima was again Malta's leading scorer with 20 points.
