Two St Aloysius' College Scout teams recently won the two major scoutcraft competitions organised by the national Scout association.

The contest for elder Scouts was held over a course starting from the Roman Villa, Rabat, to the association's campsite at Għajn Tuffieħa. The participants were judged on First Aid, compass bearings and mapping, trekking, Morse code, weather knowledge, pioneering, general knowledge and initiative through games. The college venture unit competed with nine other patrols from Birżebbugia, Żabbar, Mosta, Żurrieq, St Julian's, Sliema, Qawra, Attard and Qormi.

Birżebbuġia were runners-up.

The younger Scouts competed in the Scout Challenge 2007, which was spread over two days. The first test consisted of a hike from the Red Tower, Mellieħa to Għajn Tuffieħa. Although it was held in strong winds and heavy rain, the 100 participants were undeterred. On arrival, each patrol had to cook their own food on open fires and build shelters under which they had to sleep the night.

The following day the teams built pioneering projects with improvised structures constructed within a specified time limit.

The college junior Scout group beat 15 other teams coming from Birżebbuġia, Fgura, Ħamrun, Iklin, Lyceum, Mellieħa, Mosta. Msida, Qawra, Qormi, Siġġiewi, St Venera, Stella Maris College, Tarxien and Victoria. Siġġiewi were runners-up.
