At Dun Karm Sant Primary School, Tarxien, a series of Nativity-themed educational puppet shows, interspersed with humour and songs, were held to instill the true Christmas spirit in the young pupils attending the school.

The shows were the fruit of research conducted by Lydia Zammit, a 29-year-old parent of three children, two of whom attend the school, into creative ways of teaching religion in early childhood education. She scripted the shows and performed them with the help of John Baptist Sultana, a Theology student, and Francesca Farrugia.

In an earlier activity, two firemen in a fire engine from the Civil Protection department visited the school to teach pupils how to react if fire broke out in their homes, and demonstrated how to put out a fire using two different types of extinguishers.

The activitiy was organised by a second-year student at the Junior College as part of her Systems of Knowledge project.
