Italy's anti-corruption 'Mani Pulite' prosecutor Antonio Di Pietro has accepted an invitation from Justice Minister Owen Bonnici for a courtesy meeting.

Di Pietro is expected in Malta this weekend to address a demonstration organised by the Civil Society Network on Sunday in Valletta.

In the 1990s Di Pietro exposed corruption and 'tangentopoli' in Italy, leading to various reforms in the political system.

The ministry thanked the Italian Embassy for its assistance in organising the meeting.
