Enemed has struck a €12 million deal to build three new fuel storage tanks at Malta International Airport.

The agreement will see Indian conglomerate and global service provider Chemie-Tech develop new Jet A1 fuel tanks to help serve Malta's growing volume of air traffic.

Chemie-Tech beat P.E.G. to win the Enemed tender, with the contract signed earlier today at Enemed head offices. Energy Minister Joe Mizzi, Enemed CEO Kevin Chircop and Chemie-Tech representatives were all present for the signing.

As well as the tanks, the company will also introduce motorised pumps and pipes to allow Jet A1 fuel to be stored in existing storage facilities at MIA's Bulk 1 site.

Currently, most jet fuel for aircraft at MIA comes from Enemed and the 31 March 1979 Fuel Storage facility in Birżebbuġa.
