Marsaxlokk is celebrating its prime produce during Fish Fest today. The majority of Malta’s fish supplies, including swordfish, tuna and lampuki, are caught by fishermen from this village.
But Fish Fest is not only about fish. The planned programme of activities will see local popular singers and artists performing, while Joe ‘id-Dulli’ Farrugia, his wife Veronica and Joe Demicoli will be amusing the audience.
Among other items on sale will be delicatessen and indoor plants, while local artisans will sell their crafts. The locality’s restaurants will be serving special menus to mark this event.
There will also be a children’s corner along the main promenade.
The residential street along the promenade will be closed for traffic, providing more space for the public to enjoy a stroll or eat under the stars.
Fish Fest is being held in Marsaxlokk today between 6 and 11pm. The event is being organised by the Rural Festivities Unit with the Parliamentary Secretariat of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights in collaboration with Marsaxlokk Local Council.
