Valletta and FC Utrecht were drawn to face the winner of the tie between Poland’s Lech Poznan and Haugesund in the third qualifying round of the Europa League.
The Citizens produced a resilient performance on Thursday to hold their more-quoted Dutch opponents to a goalless draw at the Hibs Stadium to keep alive their chances of progressing in the UEFA club competition.
Should Valletta manage to get a result in next week’s second leg in the Netherlands they will be up against Lech Poznan and Haugesund in the third qualifying round.
Haugesund currently hold the edge in the tie against Lech Poznan following a thrilling 3-2 win in Norway on Thursday.
Meanwhile the draws of the third qualifying round of the Champions League were also held yesterday.
FC Salzburg or Hibernians were drawn to face the winner of the tie between NK Rijeka, of Croatia, and Welsh side TNS.
Salzburg are the main favourites to progress after storming to a 3-0 win over Hibernians at Corradino on Tuesday.
Rijeka look to be the favourites to reach the third qualifying round after defeating TNS in Croatia on Tuesday.
