Nationalist Party councillors have chastised their colleague on the Valletta council after he posted a picture online showing a rubbish bin placed under the PN sub-headquarters at the counting hall.

Raymond Azzopardi's post on Facebook, uploaded on June 20, showed him posing with another former councillor under the PN quarter's sign with the accompanying caption: "We've decided - the new party leader has been chosen".

The PN councillors on the Valletta council failed to see the humour and presented a motion saying it showed disrespect and hurt those that did not necessarily agree with him.

"The comment is unacceptable because the Valletta council works for all residents, irrespective of their political views. We not prepared to accept this type of behaviour from any individual or political party. This style of insults has no place in Maltese society."

The motion was approved by all councillors.
