Former Nationalist Minister and MP Sandy Cachia Zammit in comments to TimesTalk this evening expressed his regret at the manner how the succession of former PN leader George Borg Olivier (in 1976) was handled by people around Eddie Fenech Adami, although he reiterated his personal admiration for Dr Fenech Adami.

Dr Fenech Adami, who was the sole guest in the programme, said there had been a movement to elect a new leader after Dr Borg Olivier achieved his peak.

Dr Borg Olivier eventually realised this state of affairs and took an active part in the succession process, he said. It was he who proposed that there should be a designate-leader and it was he who picked the day when he should step down.
