My husband and I have just returned from another holiday in Malta. In recent years we purchased an apartment in St Paul's Bay in an area chosen because it was quieter.

We too were continually pestered by the timeshare touts and others promoting hotels and events. There were no less that nine in one day and seven of those were along a relatively small section of promenade. We find this most annoying especially as they seem only to pester the British and most often appear to be British themselves.

Last year I wrote and complained to the Malta Tourism Authority and was told that a new law had been introduced to regulate the selling and behaviour of timeshare sellers in Malta. I shall be writing again to say that it obviously isn't working. The "touts" do all appear to be wearing some sort of ID badge and I did ask to see one man's ID but he simply shouted abuse at us and covered it over.

I sincerely hope that the authorities take notice of our complaints. We continually read about the dwindling number of tourists visiting Malta and with this sort of harassment I'm not surprised. Even low air fares won't compensate!

Timeshare touts aside, we had a most enjoyable holiday so would like to thank everyone else who contributed to that.
