Newly-laid tarmac in Toni Zahra Street, Zejtun is cracking less than a month after it was laid, mayor Joe Attard said.

Mr Attard said the damage is located on that part of the road situated further down from Sta Katerina Street. The works were done by the government after contracts were issued by the Public Transport Authority.

It was evident that the works were not carried out properly and the first signs of damage started showing after the first rains. But now deep holes started to appear posing a danger and an inconvenience to users, Mr Attard said.

He said the council also wanted to point out the rubbish dumped on the side of Toni Zahra Street.
