Before I get into the subject, this is a bit of an experiment - this blog, pretty much since Day 1, has been more akin to an online column than to a real blog, mainly on length considerations. It being something of a task to lay down 800 words or so, it also developed into being a three-times(ish) every two weeks thing.
So now I'm going to lay down a few hundred words or so more often and see how it works. After all, there's my Beck column within which to expand on any topic that needs it. I've no illusions, incidentally, that when Peppi-wannabe Bundy tackles the subject of blogging on Friday, I'll be handed any bouquets - if I am, do let me know, as I don't watch tabloid-telly.
The Hon. Dr Alfred Sant stayed away from the House today, where the European Parliament President was hosted, because he is ashamed, as he has never been before, to be an MP. He said, and I have no reason not to believe him, that he means no disrespect to Prof. Buzek, and this is not an echo of Sant's antipathy towards matters European.
Sant's sulk comes after the Speaker didn't agree with him that the Government had behaved in contempt of the House. This reminds me of nothing less than a kid storming off the pitch after the referee disallowed his clearly-offside goal.
After all, why did Sant complain to the Speaker, if he isn't prepared to accept his ruling? Is this not akin to his successor starting a Court case about VAT on cars and declaring at the same time that if he is elected to Government, he'll refund people anyway?
