From Nicole Angele Vassallo, nine, of Attard

Dear Junior News, I wish to tell you thank you for the work and publishing you do for us. My name is Nicole Vassallo. Last winter, I did not write because I did not know about Junior News. My friend, James Borg, asked me if I would go to the party with him because he had an invitation for two guests. I told him I would come.

Then, after the party for the 10th anniversary, I started writing. Now, as school has started everyone will have lots of homework and tests but I would still try to make some time to write.

Junior News, could you please do more competitions because I enjoy reading it and writing for the competitions.

What a nice letter Nicole and we're grateful to James, for introducing you to Junior News, and to you for being such a good contributor. This is a busy time of year for students, especially in your age group but we're sure you'll find time to help keep us going too! And as far as competitions are concerned, the new year is a time, when we start thinking about new and varied competitions so we¹re sure there will be some surprises this year too.

Dear Junior News, I had a nice experience in November. I went horse riding. I went with the girl guides of Żejtun, because I am a brownie. It was raining but we still went on the horses. The name of my horse was Tonik. The small horse had black legs and a brown body.

We were a group of 13 girls. We went in the fields and in the countryside. The countryside was so nice with colourful flowers and with huge green trees. Two or three of us were afraid on the horses but not me! My horse, Tonik, was going fast and I was having fun.

I really enjoyed it and hope to go again soon.

What a great idea of the guides to take you all riding, Leoni, as your letter says, it's one of the nicest ways to see the country. We hope you'll have lots of other chances to ride. And you've won an €11.65 voucher for sending this week's star letter. Well done.

• The sender of the star letter each week will receive an €11.65 to exchange and a VIP 10 per cent discount card for all toys at Toyland for a whole year!

• Send your letters, together with your full name, age and address to Junior News.
