A 21-year-old man was on Saturday charged with giving his Albanian passport to someone else.

Jurgen Teluli, who resides in Swieqi, was charged with giving identification documents to a third party and working illegally on the island while in Malta to study.

Prosecuting officer Darren Buhagiar - who heads the Immigration Unit, told magistrate Doreen Clark that the police found about Mr Telluli during a search on a residence in Swieqi.

His request for bail was turned down.
