If you think your job is tough, spare a thought for crane operators at Malta Freeport.

The huge container ships they load and unload can be up to 399-metres long, which means that their tiny crane cabins have to be 54-metres high.

It takes up to 18 months to train to be a Freeport crane operator who clearly need a lot of concentration, as seen from this video.

Operators cannot work for more than four hours at a time because when you’re depositing a precious container into a dark space, you cannot afford to make mistakes.

And Malta Freeport has to deal with three million containers per year, rain or shine, even in gusting winds as strong as Force 7.

Now that’s a tough job.
