A young man who started taking drugs after getting involved with the wrong crowd was this morning given a suspended jail term.

Mark Anthony Ellul, 24, of Kirkop pleaded guilty to possessing heroin and cocaine.

The court, after taking into consideration his clean police record and that he had only been taking drugs for the past few months, gave him a two-year jail term suspended for four.

Magistrate Michael Mallia warned Mr Ellul that if he committed a crime within the next four years and did not obey his probation officer, he would be jailed for four years.
