The oldest toyshop in the world is opening a store in Malta to the delight of many who like to drop by the flagship London store whenever they visit the UK capital.
Hamleys Malta is opening soon at the Pama Shopping Village in Mosta and the store already has an online following.
The toyshop said on its Facebook page that it will be holding a recruitment day today and, for one Facebook user, the prospect of working with the store “sounds like a dream come true”.
Following the “high response” they received, the organisers of the recruitment day had to change the venue.
Hamleys has dozens of stores across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
The 255-year-old toyshop is set for new ownership after Chinese footwear seller C Banner International Holdings Ltd agreed to acquire it for $153 million.
The company has been bought from the UK arm of Ludendo, a French toy seller that has owned Hamleys since 2012. The acquisition of Hamleys will help the China-based company move away from its footwear business and expand outside its home market.
