The Swieqi Civic Centre should be ready to be used soon once damages which developed just a few days after its inauguration were repaired, the Infrastructure Ministry said.

It said in a statement that the centre was inaugurated a few days before the election but could not be used before the damages were repaired.

The centre includes a police station and the council’s offices.

Following the insistence of Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi a meeting was held on site for the work to be concluded as soon as possible.

Work was planned to be concluded towards the end of next month and the building will be passed on to the council, the ministry said.
