Students from De La Salle College won this year's edition of the Young Enterprise competition, with their company Rewined.

The students forming Rewined developed an innovative and eco-friendly product by reusing wine bottles to make platters on which food can be served or items displayed.

Young Enterprise has been running for the past 22 years in a bid to bring out the entrepreneur in the young generation.

Each year, companies are formed by students within competing colleges. Whoever sets up the best workable business, combined with the best product, wins.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business, Jason Azzopardi, presiding over the award ceremony on Thursday, said students learnt important lessons from the Young Enterprise programme, such as teamwork and respecting deadlines.

He said the government was in favour of initiatives that fostered entrepreneurial spirit, congratulating all 11 companies that took part.

Rewined will represent Malta in Cagliari, Italy, during the international Junior Achiever competition.
