Wild Angels Vitality beat Aloysians Veneziani Croissant last weekend to land their first women's league title with two matches to spare. This success also enabled Wild Angels to preserve their 100 per cent record after seven matches.

Wild Angels immediately opened a 4-1 lead but Aloysians' reply was prompt and drew level at 5-5. However, Milos Stanislejevic's side failed to keep up the pace and just before the break Wild Angels scored four times without reply to open a 9-5 lead.

Wild Angels kept up the pressure after the break with Aloysians trying to limit their opponents' danger. However, their best was not enough to deprive WA Vitality from clinching a 14-10 win and thus their first title.

Rebecca D'Agostino scored five goals for John Falzon's Wild Angels while Sandra Farrugia was Aloysians' top scorer on four goals.

Best player: Rebecca D'Agostino (WA Vitality).

Standings: WA Vitality 21; Kavallieri 16; Aloysians 7; University 0.

Men's League

La Salle Nespak 25
Kavallieri 16

With Aloysians already crowned champions, this match had little importance for both sides.

In the end, La Salle grabbed all three points following a second-half burst.

Kavallieri had Mark Hached making a fine debut in attack while La Salle coach Alan Grima also included a number of youngsters in his line-up.

The opening minutes saw Kavallieri taking a 4-2 lead which was duly cancelled out by La Salle at 5-5. The game was balanced. Certainly, it was no surprise that the score at the break was 12-12.

La Salle were stronger at the restart, taking a 14-12 lead. Kavallieri's reaction failed to arrive and La Salle increased their advantage to 22-13.

The final moments of the game had no story to tell as La Salle kept pushing forward until they sealed the issue with a convincing 25-16 win.

Christian McLean and Andrew Said were La Salle Nespak's top scorers on four goals. Colin Sammut hit five for Kavallieri.
