Established ladies' football league player Maria Coppola recently became the latest addition to the coaching staff at the Luxol Football Academy School which is currently catering for around 350 youngsters at its lush artificial turf pitches at St Andrew's. Coppola, who a few years back played as a semi-professional in the United States while attending a sports-related University course in Oklahoma, is in charge of the very beginners at Luxol. She also coaches at Birzebbuga Windmills FC nursery and conducts her own slot - Women in Sport - every fortnight on TVM's afternoon magazine programme Stedina. Coppola promotes the role of women in sport and makes no secret of her intention to open a nursery football school for girls only in future.
