Evergreen snooker legend Jimmy White has jumped into 10th place in the latest world rankings following his victory on Sunday in the Players Championship.

White, 41, beat Paul Hunter 9-7 in the final in Glasgow to win his first ranking event title since the 1992 UK Championship.

The Londoner rises five spots in the latest list to no.10 and is now certain to retain his top 16 place when the official rankings are revised after the World Championship which starts on Saturday.

Masters champion Hunter leapfrogs Stephen Hendry into third place following his run to the final.

The gap at the top remains the same as leader Mark Williams and second-placed Ronnie O'Sullivan both reached the quarter-finals in Glasgow.

O'Sullivan trails by more than 2,000 points but could still snatch the top spot from Welshman Williams with the Crucible to come. The race for top 16 spots will also be settled in Sheffield.

Like Tony Drago, Hong Kong's Marco Fu has not qualified for the World Championship.

Fu must wait anxiously as the likes of Quinten Hann, David Gray, Ali Carter, Ian McCulloch, Joe Perry, Mark King, Graeme Dott, Barry Pinches and Stephen Maguire battle for places among the elite group. Drago is definitely out of the reckoning for a top 16 place after two poor performances in the Irish Masters and the Players Championship.
