Football lovers would, perhaps, remember what is claimed to be the first female football match ever to be played in Malta at the National Stadium in Gżira 45 years ago. The match was organised by the Valletta ICE Club which had its premises in South Street in the capital city. The club was the brainchild of Jean Agius. A reader of The Times passed on this photograph hoping to jog the memory of all those who formed part of the teams and the numerous supporters who had attended the stadium to watch this football first on this island. Apparently, ICE stood for information, culture and entertainment.
