I am writing this letter to show my anger and frustration about the streets of Valletta, our glorious capital city.

A few weeks ago I took an English lady who uses a wheelchair there to buy souvenirs etc. The wheels kept getting stuck in the uneven paving tiles and the cracks, bumps and potholes of the pavements. Many a time my friend almost toppled over from her wheelchair, but the thing that angered me the most was the fact that none of the shops had a ramp for wheelchairs.

This to me means that people with mobility problems are not welcome in Valletta as nobody in authority has bothered to inspect anything through the eyes of a disabled person. The only accessible places are banks, museums and St John's Co-Cathedral.

I hope that this grave shortcoming is remedied swiftly before we are shamed before all of Europe.
