A one-day seminar on what the media expects from communications coordinators and press officers is to be organised by The Strickland Foundation.

The event will be held at Villa Bologna, Attard, on Wednesday, September 30.

The seminar is for press officers in both the public and private sectors, as well as for those interested in working in a media-related environment.

A spokesman for the foundation said it was not just press officers in government ministries or corporations that needed to have people trained in dealing professionally with the media, but private firms and commercial banks too.

Seasoned media people will share their views on what the editors and journalists expect from communications officers. The event includes talks, interactive sessions, and role-play sessions.

The panel of speakers and session moderators is made up of lecturer and columnist Fr Joe Borg, Times of Malta online editor Herman Grech, former editor of l-orizzont Frans Ghirxi, and PR director and former journalist Chris Peregin.

Ms Kim Dalli, and Ms Joanna Cocks will take part in a role-play session.

A participation fee of €50 includes a light lunch and coffee. For further information and booking send an email to admin@thestricklandfoundation.com or pportelli66@gmail.com.

The coffee break and lunch will provide an excellent opportunity for networking.

The Strickland Foundation is a public benefit organisation set up by Mabel Strickland, journalist and politician, in 1979. One of its aims is to promote higher standards in journalism.
